Kiwi's Characteristics
Kiwi is an African Senegal. She is a 2 years old now and still full of energy!! She was born Feb. 28, 2003. She Loves to whistle and give Kisses. She loves to talk too. Sometimes she won't even shut up! She is just a bundle of Fun!!
Color: She is different shades of green all over except she has some yellow and orange on her belly and under her wings. Her head is grey and so are her feet. Her beak is a black/grey color.
A Little Bit Of History
Kiwi was born from a breeder in Minnesota. When she was old enough to leave home she went to a store. About a month after she was there I saw her and fell in love with her. At first we were told she was a Dusky Headed Conure. We looked around for breeders close to our area but no luck. We went back and found out that she was an African Senegal. We found breeders but we found out that the babies wouldn't be able to leave until the spring. I didn't want to wait that long. We kept going back and visiting the bird. Around October my mother asked if I really wanted that bird. I said Yes I did. After school we went to the store and bought her. That is how Kiwi came to live with us.
How She Got Her Name
Well, it is a funny story because we didn't choose her name, she did. At first we were going to call her Lilo.
After we got her we decided that Lilo didn't fit her. So one day we were sitting at our table saying names when we came to Kiwi. Once we said Kiwi, she gave a happy whistle. So we tested her. We said a few other names then said Kiwi. Same thing. She gave a happy whistle. We said it again. Same happy whistle. So we decided that we would name her Kiwi because she liked it and we did too. :)

How She Has Adapted
She seems to love her new home. At first she seemed a little scared like animals are when they go someplace different. After about 5 days or so she seemed more comfortable. We do have cats. She seems to not mind them around. They could all care less. One of our cats is 14 years old. He doesn't have a bad bone in his whole body. He loves everything unless it hurts him. We had Kiwi down near him and he didn't care. He'd let Kiwi walk all around him. He loves Kiwi. Our other cats are scared of her. If she even flaps her wings in her cage they will take off running! She has come to like her new home. She likes her big cage and Her new toys. She is my Big Baby. :)
